When carrying out our preliminary examination of the rugs we will sometimes notice small areas of damage. Those repairs are usually relatively inexpensive and if carried out can enhance the appearance and extend the life of the rug. As mother used to say "A stitch in time...."
Some examples of minor repairs are unravelling sides (selvedges), frayed fringes or ends, different coloured areas or knots showing. More major repairs are for holes or dry rot which can necessitate reweaving or insertion of a donor piece. Repairs are individually assessed and a price given prior to any work being carried out. |
