Pre-Cleaning Inspection
Our Process
On receipt of a rug we first carry out a careful inspection to determine the type, condition, and the most suitable cleaning method.

We then ring or email our client giving the price for cleaning, and any suggestions of any additional work that we have noticed at the inspection such as repairs or colour restoration
Once we have your confirmation to proceed the first stage in cleaning the rug is removing the dry soil. This is normally done by the machine that we imported from the USA called a Badger which we reckon stands for “Bug Agitator & Dirt Getter Outerer".

Badgering away
This machine oscillates the rug at high frequency and removes an incredible amount of the dry soil that discolours and damages the pile and base of rugs.

Often with rugs picked up from the Kapiti area the amount of sand removed by this method is astonishing - almost enough to replenish the grandkid's sandpit!

Once the dusting process has been completed the next stage is the wet cleaning which is undertaken by a selection of the most appropriate method. Most times this will be by full immersion cleaning with detergents used that are purpose designed for rugs.

Where there is heavy urine contamination rugs may be held in a bath of a solution.

This is designed to neutralise the salts which are the cause of odour problems and then the salts are flushed out.

Choosing the correct cleaning method is critical as we do hear of a number of people creating problems by attempting to clean rugs in the home with chemicals and machines designed for carpet cleaning.  Many of these chemicals are highly alkaline which can result in significant colour change.

We also see the damage caused from over-wetting or prolonged drying. By cleaning at our purpose designed facility we are able to control the drying of the rug. Following cleaning any additional stain work is completed.

After final inspection the rug is groomed and packaged for delivery or collection.
